Whitespace includes spaces, tabs and line breaks. Lines include blank lines; paragraphs are non-empty blocks separated by blank lines. The reading estimate assumes 200 words per minute and is intended as a rough estimate for English prose. We do not check grammar, plagiarism or platform-specific message limits. Text remains in page memory until you clear or leave it; a browser may restore form contents through its own history.

How do I count words and characters online?
Paste or type a draft in the text box. The word, character, line and paragraph counts update immediately. No account is needed.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
No. This tool counts text in your browser and does not upload or save the draft. A browser may restore form contents through its own history.
Does an emoji count as one character?
Where supported, character counts use Unicode grapheme clusters, so a joined emoji counts as one visible character. Other services may use different counting rules.
